
Officer Munoz recognized for saving life
Bolivar police office Juana “Nelly” Munoz was honored by Bolivar Mayor Barrett Stevens and and Bolivar Police Pat Baker with a Letter of Recognition during the Tuesday Feb. 9 Bolivar City Council meeting, after Munoz saved the life of Brenda Gibson of Bolivar during a recent traffic stop.
The letter reads: “Too often in our work, goals are conceded , compromised or simply fail to transpire. This makes it especially rewarding to take this opportunity to commend you for the job you are doing for the Bolivar Police Department.
On Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, you made a traffic stop for speeding on Ms. Brenda Gibson. Little did you know at that time that would be instrumental is saving Ms. Gibson’s life.
You showed absolute professionalism and acted with diligence and integrity in the performance of your duties, all while maintaining a high level of respect for the fairness and concerns to Ms. Gibson.
Ms. Gibson had recently had a pacemaker put in and was speeding because she was having chest pains and was trying to get to Bolivar General Hospital.
