
Middleton headed back to state
The Middleton Lady Tigers volleyball team will make a return trip to Murfreesboro on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday October 21, 22, and 23 to play in the TSSAA Class A Volleyball State Tournament, after an easy 3-0 win over Trenton-Peabody at home on Thursday, October 15 in a Class A Sub-state game.
“We played a great game tonight,” said Middleton Head Coach Zeke Craft. “I am proud of my girls. They played well as a team and got the job done.
Middleton won the match in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-7, and 25-17. Christian Woods led the way with 12 kills, Jazmine Cosby and Kira Collier had six kills each, Polly Dowty had four kills, Talandra Sain had three Kills, and Megan Leslie had 26 assists.
Middleton’s record is now 27-7.
After the win, the ladies were excited to be headed back to Murfreesboro, but none were more thrilled than seniors Christian Woods and Jazmine Cosby.
“We are really excited we made it to the state tournament again this year,” Cosby said.
“As seniors, we really wanted to go back to Murfreesboro,” Woods said.
Cosby added, “I think our chances are better than last year. We have really grown as a team.”
A total of 13 girls from last year’s team will be returning to Murfreesboro this week
“The girls came in to this year expecting to go back to the state. They really wanted it,” Craft said. “Our next goal is to win a game at the state tournament.
The Lady Tigers will get that chance on Wednesday, October 21, at 9:30 a.m. when they face Concord-Christian.
