Middleton Babe Ruth League makes history

The Middleton Tennessee Babe Ruth baseball league will field its first ever 4-6 year old All Star team this year, with the team slated to begin play in the West Tennessee tournament in Trenton, TN., beginning on Thursday, June 18.
“The boys are very excited about the tournament, although at this age, I don’t think they really understand the honor of getting to play at this level,” head coach Jonathan Luttrell said.
The team has not had a lot of time to prepare for the tournament. The roster was not finalized until Thursday, June 10, and their first of only four practices was on Friday. In addition, the team had to raise money for the trip, and they only had time for one fundraiser, a bake sale/car wash held on Saturday, June 12, in the parking lot of Food Giant. Fortunately, the team has received a lot of support from both businesses and individuals.
“Several individuals and businesses have already made donations,” Luttrell said.
The team will be guaranteed two games in this weeks tournament, and if the win, they will advance to a regional tournament in a few weeks.
