Kirk Gives Update on Fiber Project

Bolivar Energy Authority CEO Tony Kirk gave an update to the Hardeman County Commission on February 21 on the joint venture between BEA and Aeneas to bring high speed fiber to all of Hardeman County.

“We are about 50%,” he said, detailing that Bolivar, Whiteville, Hornsby, and Toone have been turned on and that Hebron, Powell Chapel Road, and Peavine are expected to be added in the next month.

“The city was slow,” said Kirk in response to a question about his original expectations, “but as soon as we got outside the city we exceeded our projections.”

Kirk said they have 576 customers with 316 on the waiting list, and ggthirty signing up on February 21 alone.
