Hedwall Announces Candidacy for County Mayor

Hornsby Mayor Megan Hedwall announced that she will run for Hardeman County Mayor in 2022 with a kickoff dinner September 25.

“Join me and let us move forward together as one united front against governmental control. Let us work to put power and control back in the hands of the individual,” she said.

Hedwall, who was elected the first female mayor of Hornsby, serves as the Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Hardeman County and was joined by fellow Republican Kevin Powers, who is the Chairman of the Fayette County Republican Party as the emcee and former State Senator Dolores Gresham.

A graduate of Bolivar Central High School, Hedwall has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Grace Christian University and is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and works at West Tennessee Healthcare as a trainer at LiFT Wellness Center.

Hedwall is excited to get her campaign moving.

“The amount of support and encouragement is overwhelming and I am grateful beyond words. It’s time to get to work.”

The earliest date petitions will be available to pick up is December 20, with a deadline of February 17 for turning them in to the Hardeman County Election Commission.

The Primary Election Day is May 3, with the County General Election set for August 4. Both parties in Hardeman County have indicated they will hold primaries.
