Hardeman native to fill seat vacated by Wilburn

The Fayette County Commission selected retired UT agricultural extension agent Jamison “Jamie” Jenkins in a 12-5-1 vote over Somerville lawyer Hal Rounds on Thursday, Jan. 7, to fill the remainder of former state Rep. Leigh Wilburn, who resigned her House District 94 seat in December.
Jenkins will serve until the end of the current term in Aug., and will not run for reelection. His first day in the house was Tuesday, January, 12. His district includes all of Fayette County, McNairy County and the southern portion of Hardeman County, mostly south of Tennessee 57 along the Mississippi border.
