The Golden Piggy is back up for grabs

Well, it’s that time of year again. Grand Junction is revving up for Gettin Piggy in the Park. This is the eighth year the Golden Piggy will be awarded to the overall champion of the BBQ cooking contest. It’s fair to say this is one of the bigger activities sponsored by the city. Dates for the event are Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16.
There are five categories in the contest. These include ribs, butts, sauce, beans, and anything but (three different ones). The judging will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Trophies for each category will be awarded at a ceremony beginning at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Also this year, there will be an appetizer category which will be judged Friday night.
Of course, the biggest trophy is the Golden Piggy which the overall winners get to keep for one year. "Team Inhognito" from Grand Junction has been awarded the honor for the past two years.
