General Baker to speak at Veterans Day Ceremony

Brigadier General Tommy H. Baker, Assistant Adjutant General, of the Tennessee Army National Guard will be the guest speaker at the 2015 Hardeman County Veteran’s Ceremony, which will be held Friday, November 6, at 9 a.m., at the Bolivar National Guard Armory.
Baker was appointed Assistant Adjutant General in January, and was promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General on March 7. Baker began his Army career as an enlisted man and received his commission to 2nd Lieutenant in 1985. He deployed to Kuwait in 2004 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom III, serving as the Theater Combat Service Support Automation Management Officer, and again in 2008 as the Commander of the 30th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion  at Q-West, Iraq. As Assistant Adjutant General, Baker is responsible for the training and supervision of the more than 13,000 soldiers in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
This year’s Veterans celebration commemorates the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. The names of soldiers killed in action during that war will be read during the ceremony. There will also be special recognition of all World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War survivors. Music will be provided by Small Shack, and all veterans will be fed.
