Carnival returns to Hardeman County

After nearly three years without a fair in Hardeman County, a carnival set up operations from Tuesday, August 25 through Saturday August 29, at the Hardeman County Fairgrounds
According to Hardeman County Fair Board President Stacey Swift, the turn of events that brought the Dixieland Carnival Co. to Bolivar last week happened suddenly. The carnival was scheduled to be in Columbus, MS.  But a last minute cancellation left them with a free week, and fourth generation carnival owner Billy Tucker began searching for a place to set up .
“He (Tucker) contacted me on Wednesday, and we had a deal in place by Thursday,” Swift said. “Things happened so fast, there was no time to set up any other events or even to advertise.”
