Bolivar City Council votes to raise water rates 31%

The Bolivar City Council unanimously approved an ordinance on second reading that raises the city’s water rates by 31%, during their regular monthly meeting, which was held on Thursday, October 8, at Bolivar City Hall.
According to the ordinance, the schedule of rates (per 100 gallons) is as follows: Residential water rates will go up from a minimum of $11.26 to $14.66 inside the city, and $16.88 to $22.08 outside the city. The minimum commercial rates will go from $22.11 to $29.11 inside the city, and from $33.50 to $44.00 outside the city. The residential rates for the first 2000 units will increase from $0.5628 to $0.7328 inside the city and $0.8442 to $1.1042 outside the city. Rates for the next 8,000 units will go from $0.2948 to $0.3848 inside the city, and $0.4288 to $0.5588 outside the city. Rates for more than 10,000 units will go from $.2278 to $.2978 inside the city and $0.3350 to $0.3382 outside the city. The commercial rates for the first 5000 units will go from $0.4422 to $0.5822 in the city and from $0.67 to $0.88 outside the city.
