America Recycles Day kicks off in Hardeman County
Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain, along with Missy Marshall, Executive Director for Keep Tennessee Beautiful held a kickoff rally for America Recycles Day, on Tuesday, November 10, in front of the Hardeman County Courthouse.
America Recycles Day was actually Saturday, November 14, but the county will be doing its part the entire month of November, by keeping a trailer parked on the courthouse lawn for people to come and leave aluminum cans for recycling. All proceeds will go to Hardeman Adoptable Animals.
“We are very grateful for the support from the county. Hardeman Adoptable Animals is 100 percent volunteer, and we need all the help we can get,” Charla Cooper, president of Hardeman County Adoptable Animals said.
According to Sain, the trailer will remain on the courthouse lawn until it is full, and it may move to another location, such as the Wal-mart parking lot later.
During the rally Sain gave away free garbage bags, and Marshall spoke to the crowd about the importance of recycling.
“Events like this support the mission of Keep Tennessee Beautiful, which is to educate and encourage citizens to take a greater responsibility for their community environment,” Marshall said.
