The Toone Lady Bobcats won the Hardeman County Softball Tournament for the first time on Saturday, September 26, at Hornsby Elementary School with wins over Bolivar, 15-0, and Hornsby, 13-1.
The one day tournament featured five teams from across the county. In the opening game, Bolivar defeated Whiteville by forfeit 14-1. Toone then faced Bolivar and walked away with the 15-0 victory. In the third game, Hornsby handled Middleton 9-1 to set up the final, pitting Toone against Hornsby. Toone won the game easily, with a final score of 13-1.
“I am very proud of our girls,” Toone Head Coach Megan Roberts said. “We have never won the county tournament before. We have come a long way and our eighth graders really held us together. We will miss them next year.
Toone finished the season 7-1, sweeping the county teams. Their sole loss came to Trinity Christian Academy.
The tournament ends the middle school softball season.
