Local student goes to State Capitol

Calley Overton, sixteen of Toone, recently came back from TeenPact Leadership Schools State Class at the Tennessee State Capitol. TeenPact trains young people to be leaders who will impact the nation and world for Jesus Christ. Specifically, the Tennessee State class consisted of students from across Tennessee writing and debating bills in mock legislature, hands-on and on-site learning at the Capital, interviewing lobbyists, hearing from speakers who work at the Capitol, and much more. This year’s TeenPact Tennessee State Class was able to sit in on the beginning of Thursday’s session of the 109th General Assembly to watch the representatives in action. Calley says, “TeenPact was an absolute blast and I met so many amazing and inspiring people. It was an incredible and educational experience that I hope to repeat.”
