The legend of the Christmas spider

A Christmas Spider? Yes. There are Christmas Spiders. A German legend tells how years ago people invited animals into their homes to see their Christmas trees. Spiders weren’t invited because of the mess they made with cobwebs. A mother was busily sweeping. The spiders ran up to the attic to escape her broom.
One night they crept down to see the tree. They were thrilled by its beauty and spent hours running up and down all of its limbs, admiring every light and ornament. Unfortunately, they covered the tree with gray cobwebs.
