Call upon the Lord first

The message is a simple, profound and powerful one that most overlook and ignore. “I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.” (Psalm 120:1)
When God becomes our first resort in dealing with problems, stresses and issues of life rather than our last resort, then we soon find that our issues are handled easier and with more peace. How often do we sit and try to figure out ways of ‘fixing’ a problem before we call upon God. Perhaps it could be the problem is the result of our own sin, the consequences we must suffer based upon our disobedience. With sin come consequences.
However, perhaps it may not always be the result of our sin. It could be something we are worried about, a situation we are stressed over, or a loved one we are deeply concerned about and try to create ways to help with the situation. No matter the situation, the cause, or the options we have, God must always be our first option and not our last. In fact, when God is our first option, he becomes our only option. He is the only one we need.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Perhaps the question you should be asking is not ‘what is the solution?’ but ‘have I trusted the Lord with this?’
