Toone

Greetings from Toone! One evening last week as I sat out on my porch swatting rabid mosquitoes and dodging hungry horseflies, I remembered a report I read last year that claimed the reason we had such a problem with insects is because of the mild temps we’ve had for the past several winters. So, finally this year we had a terribly long and bitter cold winter, and it seems to me there are more of the little pesky critters than ever. What’s the deal with that? Many local gardeners tell me they are even seeing bugs that haven’t been around here in a long time. If that wasn’t enough, a new infestation of army worms is now munching on most people’s pretty Bermuda grass! I suppose we are just destined to be cursed with bugs. Let’s wait and see what this winter brings.
