The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a Roadside Sobriety Checkpoint on State Highway 57 at the 20.2 MM from 9-11 p.m. on Friday, July 5.

Selmer Senior Center is on the road again with two trips for the fall. First, they will travel to Noah’s Ark, the Creation Museum and National Underground Railroad Museum October 21-25. Hickory Valley’s 4th of July Parade & Picnic Parade line-up at 10:30 at the gin and will begin at 11. Decorate a float, bicycle, tractor or dress like Uncle Sam! Picnic will be held following parade at city hall. Bring a dish to share and your lawn chairs. Hickory Valley will provide hot dogs, lemonade and iced tea, Thursday, July 4th.

Toone Fire and Police Department’s Fireworks & Family Fun is July 4 with live music starting at 6 p.m. and fireworks at dark. Food will be available for purchase.

More than 15 performers from past and present HC Hee Haw years will entertain at the Luez Theatre on August 5. Tickets will go on sale July 8 at WMOD Radio for $10 and all seating inlcuding balcony, will be general seating. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The United Sons and Daughters of Charity #2 will sponsor its Annual July Rally on Monday night, July 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Little Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Hornsby. The Hardeman County UT Ag/Research Extension Service will sponsor a Whole Meal Salad Food Demonstration and Grocery Give-A-Way at the Grand Junction Public Library on July 12 at 11 a.m. The first 30 participants will receive take-home groceries to prepare the recipe at home.

Rev. Darron Fouse, Pastor and the Bowden Hill C.M.E. Church Family in Middleton will sponsor a “LOVE IN ACTION” Service on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. This service is a benefit for Ray F. Jones to assist with his medical and treatment expenses. There will be singing, a time of fellowship and praise and worship.
