Bolivar 6U All-stars compete in Dizzy Dean World Series

The Bolivar 6U All-stars traveled to Southaven Miss., to compete in the Dizzy Dean World Series, which was held from Friday, July 24, and goes through Thursday, July 30.
With a total of 21 teams in this year's tournament, the seeding for the championship bracket was decided by a three game round robin format, which was held on Saturday, July 30, and Sunday, July 31. Bolivar had a rough time on their first day of the tournament, losing their opening game to the Winston Outlaws of Douglasville, Ga., 21-6, then losing to Northport, Ala. Nationals 23-11. They had much better luck on Sunday, defeating the Hernando, Miss. All-stars 20-7. The win was enough to earn them a spot in the championship bracket as the number 15 seed.
Bolivar faced a familiar foe in their first bracket game, once again going up against the Winston Outlaws on Monday, July 27. Winston jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven runs in the first inning and one run in the second. Bolivar made a game of it in the third, scoring six runs in the top of the inning, but Winston scored another seven in the bottom of the third and five more in the fourth. Bolivar scored one more run in the fifth, but it was not enough, as Bolivar fell to Winston 20-7, sending them to an elimination game against the Forest Hills Lions of Tampa Fla., Bolivar's second game was a slightly better effort.
