A hayride to the Country Cabin Museum was just one of the events at the 2015 Hornsby Fall Classic.

More than $2500 raised at fall classic

Hornsby Mayor Mack Carter announced more than $2500 was raised at this year’s Hornsby Fall Classic, which was held on Saturday, September 12.
“We still have a couple of expenses that need to be paid, but we will end up with more than $2500 this year, which exceeds our expectations,” Carter said. “The festival was a huge success, and we are pleased with the results.”
The money raised will go towards paying off the land recently purchased at the east end of Main Street and Hwy. 64, which will be the location of a proposed new fire station for Hornsby, as well as helping to purchase new equipment.
“I really want to thank everyone on the planning committee, Betty Kirk, who did a lot of the work on the festival other than the tractor pull, Ed and Loretta Doles, who organized the music, Michael Doles, who served as Master of Cremonies, the Ruritarian Club, the vendors, as well as the citizens of Hornsby and the surrounding communities that helped to make the festival a success,” Carter said.
Carter went on to say an event for next spring is in the early planning stages.
