Middleton City Council continues K9 unit, comes down on waste in PD

Mayor Cox and the City of Middleton opened up the meeting on Monday night and began to discuss the viability of continuing the police dog program.
"Does the dog provide any income?," One alderman asked.
The k9 officer answered “The dog found an Alzheimer’s patient in one hour at around 1 a.m. that the police had been searching for since 7 that evening”
Another alderman read the report of what the k9 unit had contributed to date. “The dog has been involved in a felony arrest, 10 building searches, 4 school searches, 2 jail searches, plus was instrumental in locating a lost person.”
Mayor Cox asked if the jail searches were reimbursed by the county, “no we were not” replied the k9 officer.
Cox then asked for either a motion to be given to put a cage in another car or for a motion to not be given to indicate that "we don’t want to do it".
An alderman asked “what will be the cost”.
