Democrats meet in Spring Hill

Democrats from across the state met in Spring Hill last weekend for their annual spring conference.  In addition to a full slate of workshops, there were also elections held. Hardeman County Democratic Party Chair, Randall Rice, was elected to head the Tennessee Democratic County Chairs Association for the next two years. Rice’s experience includes involvement in political campaigns nationwide over the past forty years, but he believes winning local campaigns and building county parties is key to winning state and federal races.  Others elected are Amos Powers, Vice-Chair; Dennis Gregg, treasurer; and Meryl Rice, Secretary.
Primary Boards were also approved for Hardeman and Henry Counties by the Tennessee Democratic Party Executive Committee.  The Hardeman County Primary Board will consist of five persons:  Anne Wallace Crighton, Marilyn Bartling, J. P. Hussey, Evelyn Robertson, and Willie Spencer.  They will serve a two year term and may be re-appointed.  The purpose of a primary board is to ensure those candidates running in Democratic Party primaries are bona fide Democrats.
