Minter’s Killer to Serve Sixteen Years

Kuryakin Rashad Woods pled guilty on May 17 to second degree murder for the December 19, 2014 shooting of 25 year-old Clarence Minter.
Clarence Minter received a gunshot wound on the right side of his jaw after a bullet came through the window and struck him in the face at approximately 3:15 a.m., December 19, 2014, at 714 Fisher Street in Bolivar, while he sat in the bedroom making music on the computer. Minter was transported to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he later died of his injuries.
Kuryakin Woods was arrested and charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of firearm by convicted felon on February 18, 2015. In exchange for the plea agreement, Woods pled guilty to second degree murder. Conspiracy to commit murder and possession of firearm by convicted felon charges were dismissed.
Under the plea agreement terms Woods gives up his right to appeal and will serve 16 years at 100 percent.
Also arrested for the crime, Johnathan Shaquille Genes was charged with conspiracy to commit murder but charges were later dropped.
