Council gains new appointments and vice mayor

As the new year begins for the Bolivar City Council, and with the election of a new council member, Mayor Barrett Stevens made new appointments and the council voted in a new vice mayor for a two year term.
Vice Mayor and Councilman James Futrell was defeated by Quantissia Hamer in the recent election and, as a result, the council was placed in a position to elect a new vice mayor. Stevens recommended Todd Lowe to be named vice mayor. The recommendation was seconded by  Suzanne Rhea. The vote count was 3-4 for Lowe with Todd Lowe, Willie McKinnie and Suzanne Rhea voting yes and Tracy Byrum, Quantissia Hamer, Randy Hill and Larry McKinnie voting no.
