City of Bolivar to Honor Fallen Soldier

The City of Bolivar and Bolivar Mayor Barrett Stevens will hold a memorial service for a soldier who died at Pearl Harbor that is  buried in Hardeman County.
Seaman Second Class Luther Elvin Cisco is buried at Cearley Cemetery, located on Highway 18 North of Bolivar. The cemetery is located between Ebenezer Road and Pine Top Road.
Cisco, who was 20 years old when he died on December 7, 1941, was one of the 2,335 men killed during the attack that catapulted the United States of America into the Second World War.
The memorial, scheduled for  December 7 at 10:00 a.m., will be include with a color guard and playing of TAPS.
According to his obituary published at the time, Cisco was born and raised in Medon, Tennessee, and was a member of the Mercer Baptist Church.
He entered the U.S. Navy on January 9, 1940.
