Cannabis oil signed into law

With strict stipulations and permitted usages, Governor Bill Haslam signed into law on Monday, May 4 a bill which legalizes the use of cannabis oil for limited medical purposes.
The signing of the bill was not an unexpected event, as Haslam was expected to sign the bill which allows the usage of cannabis oil for patients who suffer from seizures (epilepsy) and who receive a recommendation from their doctor to use cannabis oil.
Haslam told reporters he is confident this alternative is better than legalizing the smoking of marijuana based upon information and recommendations he has received from Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner.
“I’m going to trust people like John Dreyzehner, our commissioner, in terms of the fears that he has around medical marijuana and some of the issues there verses cannabis oil, which he feels like can help some people in very specific situations,” Haslam said.
