The City of Bolivar has announced Neighborhood Cleanup Day on Saturday, October 1. If you have any questions about Cleanup Day call 658-2020.

The Mayor, Town Council and Town of Toone will hold a public hearing on urban growth boundaries on Saturday, September 13 at 7 p.m. at Toone City Hall. A map of the proposed area may be viewed during normal business hours at Toone City Hall. All interested parties are welcome and invited to attend.

The Hardeman County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting will be held Thursday September 15 at 7 p.m. at the Bolivar Municipal Center.  All members are welcome by reservation only. Call 658-3031 by September 12.

Attention Home Owners: The City of Bolivar received Tennessee Housing Development Agency Grant to help homeowners make needed repairs to their houses. Public Information and Application Meetings will be held on September 8th at 6 p.m. and on September 13 at 5:30 at Bolivar City Hall. Target homes are in East Bolivar Margin Street to Water Street. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has expanded the application schedule for the 2016 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP). Applications will be accepted online and by mail October 1 through November 1. Applications are available at most farm agencies including USDA Farm Service Agency, UT Extension and Farm Bureau offices, as well as most farm supply stores. To ensure accuracy, producers are encouraged to work with their local extension agent or TDA representative when completing the application. Become A Certified Recovery Congregation. The State of TN Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services has launched a mission partnering with faith based communities in Bolivar to reach out to those struggling with addictions and connecting them to vital substance abuse services. Music on the Square features Jimmy Anderson Friday night at 7 p.m. and Bryan Hayes and the Retrievers will return to the stage this Friday at 8 p.m. at the Bolivar Downtown Amphitheatre where there’s always concessions and a great family atmosphere.

The Bolivar Farmers Market at 110 Lafayette St. is open on Saturdays and Tuesdays, Thursdays beginning at 7 a.m. for the remainder of the growing season. Be there early for the best selection of plants, produce including a variety of apples from Woodall’s Farms (on Tuesdays), baked goods, crafts, beef and pork.

The Hardeman County APTA and Epic Haunted Tours present History, Legends, Ghosts and More every weekend in October beginning October 7 with a golf cart tour of Polk Cemetery and a paranormal investigation each night. The Town of Silerton will hold a fireworks display on Labor Day at dusk to make up for their rained out 4th of July display.

The Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC) brings Dearly Departed to the stage on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, September 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will go on sale at the Arts Council to HCAC members on Monday, August 29 and to the general public on Monday, September 6. The Hornsby Fall Classic will be held on September 10. This free event will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature a lawn mower pull, motorcycle run, art exhibit, hayride tours, live music, kids rides and activities, antique tractor and car show, food, drinks and much more. The Love Thy Neighbor Community Event will be held on the lawn of Hardeman County Court Square on Saturday, September 10 beginning at 4 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs as HC residents, pastors and ministers and local officials come together to surround the community in Love and Prayer. Food and drinks are provided.

The Middleton Lady Tigers Rebound Club is sponsoring a car wash on September 10 at the Middleton Getwell Drug & Dollar parking lot from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Car wash is $10 and refreshments will be sold

A Patriot Day Community Memorial Event will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 6 p.m. at Hardeman County Courthouse Square in Bolivar. This is the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our nation. This event is sponsored by the Bolivar Fire Department and Cry Out America Hardeman County.

Hardeman Adoptable Animals Shelter needs volunteers to socialize with these wonderful animals while they are waiting for their permanent and forever homes.  Any and all help is appreciated including but not limited to playing with, walking and cleaning food/water bowls and habitats. The shelter is full to capacity with dogs that need permanent homes.  Non committal volunteer hours are daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pedigree dog food, blankets and money donations are always welcome. The shelter is located within the Hardeman County Landfill on Walton Road west of Bolivar.
